Consultant
The Consultant improves the client’s business operations, process effectiveness, productivity, profitability and industry standing through the effective implementation of Thomas Group’s tools and methodologies. The role of the Consultant is to effectively engage with clients and the TG implementation team at client’s site or other designated work location. He/she may participate in client research, analysis, assessment, program architecture, and implementation phases of the client engagement, and establishes and maintains an on-going trust based relationship with the client’s organization. The Consultant is able to lead and mentor newer Associate and Analyst colleagues in interaction with clients and application of Thomas Group products. The Consultant is responsible for training the client’s staff to apply various Thomas Group tools, techniques, and methods to achieve progress towards the program’s objectives. Depending on the nature of the program and client engagement, the Consultant may participate in application of these same tools, techniques and methods to achieve results, and may also remain engaged in continuous improvement activities once desired results are achieved. The Consultant possesses and applies functional knowledge in continued development of new products and solutions and typically holds expertise in application of a range of Thomas Group products.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in new product development, documentation and communication
Supports research and analysis of business environment and client situations
May participate in initial sales calls on potential clients, conduct assessments and generate proposals
Mentor and provide guidance to Associates and Analysts
Generate professional verbal and written communications both internally and with clients
Collaborates effectively across practices and teams
Upholds ethical standards
Understands and skillfully applies a range of Thomas Group tools, techniques and methodologies
Establishes credibility with clients through professional skills, perspective of client business and industry, and application of Thomas Group products to achieve program objectives
Demonstrates expertise, flexibility and a sense of urgency to deliver results
Builds long-term trust based relationships with clients
Keeps Manager informed on areas of focus required to strengthen the program execution
Seeks new opportunities for expansion of the current engagement or for future engagements.

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to communications from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors. Demonstrates effective listening skills. Ability to summarize the client’s issues, synthesize the causes and present an influential, integrated, compelling solution to the client. Handles ambiguous situations with a professional demeanor.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Exhibits relationship management skills and professional presence including flexibility and sensitivity to the client’s business needs. Results oriented. Demonstrates a sense of urgency, ethical behavior and good business judgment. Works with Thomas Group colleagues, partners, and clients to implement integrated creative solutions to their problems.
CONCEPTUAL THINKER: Intelligent application of information to solve business problems in a creative, holistic manner. Applies multi-tasking capabilities; is analytical, learning focused, able to communicate thoughts and ideas to others.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be PC literate. Knowledgeable in theory and application of Microsoft Office suite; capable of learning Project Management or and other new business software programs. Willing and capable of learning Thomas Group or other software programs and applications.
FINANCIAL SKILLS: Must have a basic understanding of financial reports and the ability to read, interpret and understand P&L statements and balance sheets. In addition, the Consultant must know how to use statistics and cost-benefit concepts/analysis to guide and propose fiscally responsible alternative solutions to the client.
WORK ETHIC / ENVIRONMENT
High ethical and integrity standards. Self-motivated and able to sustain a demanding pace. Work is performed primarily at the client and requires travel (up to 100%) to client locations domestically or internationally.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
BS/BA degree required, graduate degree preferred
General skills and experience in manufacturing, sales/marketing, supply chain, purchasing, logistics, design/development, IT/e-business, finance, administration, or project management is desired
Demonstrated 3-5+ years successful consulting and/or career experience in leadership positions in other firms
Availability for assignment worldwide is required
